I started bowling with the club in 2016. I now play competitively for three of the club teams on a regular basis. I became a member of the bowls committee after a couple of years. I am very keen to promote the social, fun side of our club and would encourage anyone interested to visit us. You will always get a warm welcome.

Secretary

Secrretary Margaret

Margaret Hughes

I joined the Club and the Ladies Bowls Team in 2011 after I had retired from work and needed things to do and more of a social life. Bowling has more than fulfilled both of these needs. I became a Committee Member a few years later and then took on the role of Bowls Section Secretary so it will be me keeping you up to date with what is happening in the Section if you decide to join us.

Treasurer

Treasurer Paul

Paul Gilbert

I joined the club in 2022 along with a group who took part in that year's Bowls for Health programme

Since then I have been a regular social bowler playing 2 or 3 times a week.

I have also been the club treasurer for the past 3 years and have more recently become a competition organiser.

Committee Members

Committee Member Joan

Joan Rylance

My husband had been a member of the bowling club for many years.

When I was down watching I was asked by some of Ladies to join. They encouraged me and made me very welcome. I've made lots of new friends. It's a lovely relaxing, happy atmosphere on match and competition days.

I am captain of the Rainhill Ladies team and play indoor short mat during the winter.

Committee Member Robin

Robin Barnes

I joined our club in 2017, a few months after losing our gorgeous daughter Laura, who had cerebral palsy and we had cared for for 30 years. The club really helped me get over this and special mention to (the late) Mike Barrett who taught me all about bowls and how to play a ukulele!!!

Committee Member Kath

Kathy Brogan

I have been bowling with Rainhill Ladies since Phyllis was our captain at the start of this millennium! I am the first 'lady champ' winning the Club Championship. Love playing; keeps us all fit. Joined the committee to help and started the bonus ball which has been a great help to the bowling section.

Committee Member Ken

Ken Brogan

I started bowling after retiring i 2014 and came to Rainhill in 2017. I now Captain our C Team in the Widnes League, as well as two Indoor short mat Teams - 'The Hotties' and 'Childwall'.Joining the Committee in 2025 means i` can now give a little back and encourage new members to join via our C Team.

Committee Member Bryan

Bryan Drake

I joined Bowling for Health 18 months ago and continued to play on a Saturday morning with the 'Newbies' social group. I've since joined a mixed team and play indoor short mat during winter.
